WhatsApp launches digital payments in Brazil!

After testing the beta version in India, WhatsApp launches in-app payments in Brazil.

Last year, Facebook was activated with Instagram, Messenger, Facebook and Facebook Pay, which it says will be offered to WhatsApp.

"The payments made on WhatsApp are starting to be offered to people across Brazil starting today, and we look forward to bringing everyone forward" the company said in the article recently. WhatsApp says it is an open model that will allow digital payments to add more partners in the future.

There will be no fees for consumers to use the payment service, but sellers will pay a processing fee to receive payments. Users need to link their credit or debit cards to their WhatsApp accounts, and transactions are secured by fingerprint or a six-digit PIN. The company said it will support debit or credit cards from Banco do Brasil, Nubank and Sicredi and will work with Brazilian payment processor Cielo.

This is one step ahead of the mobile payment systems. People are quickly getting used to making payments via mobile wherever they go. Now, it will be very easy to make transfers between themselves, and also receive payments from their customers.

It launched a closed beta in India in 2018, and that country to be the first official site for WhatsApp payments. However, as TechCrunch has stated, Facebook has dealt with a number of regulatory issues in India and has a somewhat complicated history there; The plan to provide free Facebook access to 2017 has been criticized and led to charges of digital colonialism.

Facebook purchased WhatsApp for about $19 billion in 2014. As of February, the messaging service has more than 2 billion users all over the world.

WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging apps in Brazil, and that’s why having such a service is more than a plus there.
