Vector: Jaguar Land Rover's ecological electric city vehicle
British car companies have announced that they have started working together on the mysterious-sounding Vector project. Behind it is a fairly futuristic, small electric-powered vehicle.
You probably already figured out that the vehicle has nothing to do with the large SUVs produced by both companies or the off-road SUVs. It has a completely different purpose, because it is more urban. It is also to be part of the ecological trend of modern metropolises. The vehicle is only 4 meters long and just over 2 meters wide.
Vector is to be a vehicle that will make the most of its deck space to provide passengers with adequate comfort when traveling around cities. With this project, Jaguar and Land Rover want to show that they can create a vehicle that is extremely efficient. Getting rid of all unnecessary elements allowed to reduce its weight to the maximum, and thus also the consumption of electricity.
The future’s public transport vehicle has a steering wheel installed on board, but engineers have foreseen the possibility of moving it in autonomous mode. For now, we don’t know much about what part of the journey the vehicle will move in traditional and autonomous modes.
Both companies report that Vector is expected to appear on the road as early as 2021. According to companies’ plan, they will offer fast and very cheap travel between the most popular locations in cities. If you follow the futuristic news on our site, there is currently a very high demand for such vehicles.
Every single vehicle manufacturer tries to make some steps with ecological and electric-powered models for the future. Okay, some of you may think that it’s too early to get one for yourself. But it’s the future and companies plan their future models before we think about it. So, it’s a great step from Jaguar Land Rover.
