One of the largest solar power plants in Europe will be built in Poland
It seems that Poland will finally make a big step towards popularizing renewable energy technologies.
We are talking here about a really huge investment that will be built near the city of Turek, as part of the revitalization of land degraded by mining activities. Ultimately, its capacity will be 600 MW, i.e. it will be responsible for 3% of energy produced in the country as part of renewable energy sources. Thus, it will be the largest photovoltaic power plant in Poland and one of the largest in Europe, and Energia Przykona will be responsible for its construction, supported by partners from China Sinogy Electric Engineering and Strategic Swiss Partners AG. The Chinese company will deal with construction issues and technology delivery, while the Swiss will watch over the financial side of the project.
This will be implemented in several stages, and the first, covering 320 hectares, which will contain 200 MW solar panels, should be completed by the end of next year. What's more, as early as 2020, the first electricity from solar panels will flow to customers. As Jacek Rusiecki from Energia Przykona says: - These areas are surrounded by infrastructure that provides transmission and use of electricity produced by the power plant from solar energy.
Poland and Europe must produce more and more energy from renewable sources to reduce CO2 emissions. Solar power plants are important elements of the energy system. There are few ways to generate electricity respond to the challenges of climate change. The solar farm produces clean energy. In the summer, it can produce more of it, relieving conventional power plants. The latter can therefore reduce the consumption of water needed for cooling the installation. The whole system and the environment benefit from the symbiosis of different energy generation technologies.
We will see how it will be in several years. More renewable sources must be discovered and solar power plants which are going to be built in Poland will help a lot to European energy sources.
