Huawei patented a foldable smartphone
Category : Technology
As the latest reports suggest, the Chinese manufacturer is currently working on a new folding smartphone that will be very different from the first such device in the company's offer, i.e. Mate X.
Patent applications filed by Huawei have appeared on the network, from which we learn that the manufacturer has abandoned the design of the smartphone opened and folded like a book and will instead follow the path chosen by the competing Samsung, and more specifically its Galaxy X Flip. Interestingly, the patent was filed at the Chinese patent office in August last year, but has only now been accepted. This means that soon we can see on the market a smartphone from Huawei resembling old-school flip phones, only with a foldable flexible display.
In the attached photo you can see a fairly typical vertical camera set today, and the back panel also has an additional screen, useful after folding the smartphone and storing this flexibility. In the front there will be a small notch for the front camera and a set of necessary sensors. As we have already mentioned, the smartphone will fold like once popular flip phones, and after folding we get a small square device that is easier to fit in the pocket (it is also important that we fold the shorter part of the display, because as we know from previous folding devices, these are very susceptible to damage).
Industry sources believe that Huawei is working sweatfully on this smartphone, and what's more, it is expected to hit the market this year, at a very aggressive price, which is to encourage customers to try the technology of folding flexible displays and beat the competition. Mostly Galaxy Z Flip from Samsung, because it is worth mentioning here that Huawei even bought the appropriate UTG (ultra-thin glass), identical to that used at the rival. In addition, the company has also submitted a request to reserve the Mate V name and although there is no certainty that this is a folded model, there are many indications that this will be the case, because the name does not match any other Huawei series. So, we can do nothing but wait for further reports or an official announcement.
