Folded smartphones have been on sale for over a year, but they are not as popular as their producers would like it to be. However, this is to change, thanks to new, innovative devices.
Since the start of the sale of folded smartphones, the companies have been sure that only a small group of fans of mobile devices will be interested in them. The reason was prosaic. Smartphones were and are very expensive, large and not practical. This trend was to change for the better in the coming years, in which new concepts for their submission will be presented.
Everything indicates that a collapsible smartphone will be a much more practical solution. This is what LG is going to present soon. The Korean concern is working on the LG Project B, i.e. the first roll-up smartphone that will go into mass production.
Such ideas are not new. They have appeared at the mobile devices fair for many years. Interestingly, even they could be seen faster than the folded smartphones themselves, because they also have a flexible display, but placed in a rigid housing.
LG wants to finally introduce a revolution to the world of mobile devices and popularize the concept of the future of smartphone development. A rolled-up, or if you prefer, rolled-up smartphone is expected to be in production early next year. How it will look, quite likely, as in the above renderer, although there are many more ideas.
The Koreans cooperate here with the Chinese display manufacturer BOE. Both companies want to equip the roll-up smartphone with a flexible OLED display that is to be resistant to damage. For now, nothing more is known about this device. Everything can be clarified at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year.
It is certain that LG, Samsung, Huawei and other manufacturers will be offering new ideas for folding or folding smartphones in the coming years. Experts believe that affordable and practical conceptual devices will appear on store shelves no sooner than in the second half of the 21st century.
