The sale of the food delivery company Postmates has now become clear: Uber takes over with $2.65 billion.
Uber, continues to invest itself without any break, added food delivery company Postmates to its family, according to the news reported by Bloomberg and The New York Times on Sunday.
Postmates, a food delivery company serving more than 600,000 restaurants in more than 4,200 US cities, started operations in 2011. Uber has made a great investment on Uber Eats with this company it has incorporated.
This acquisition is an incredibly important step for Uber, especially since the coronavirus pandemic saw the trip-sharing service drop around 70 percent in March. Uber was taking steps to strengthen its food delivery service as demand increased in the midst of the epidemic, withdrawing from less profitable countries and trying to get GrubHub earlier this year. GrubHub was sold to Just Eat Takeaway for $7.3 billion, but Uber found a consolation prize.
Initiatives delivering food in both the United States and Europe gained tremendous value. UberEats and Doordash are among these. Now Uber takes another step and adds a new member to its team.
The sector’s one of the leading companies Uber has many other projects. UberEats is just one of them. Yes, it has many competitors in the United States and Europe, however, still millions of people order their foods by UberEats.
We will all see together how Postmates will become a team member. Some say that Uber will shut the door of Postmates, and take the team to UberEats for future developments regarding better service, coding and marketing. On the other hand, some people also say that there will be two different companies which will operate in the sector.
Once everything is clear, we will do our best to share the latest news with you all.
